|Saturday, November 2, marked the third fall Brooklyn VintageCrawl. Leave it to the NYC subways to always provide entertainment! Our first stop was Antoinette on Grand St where we met the darling owner, Lexi, who offered us free wine while we browsed through an impressive collection of vintage clothing, shoes, and trinkets. We couldn’t resist the taco truck outside, either. No disappointments there.Just our luck! Lexi is good friends with Kathryn Irby, cofounder of the Vintage Crawl, who was hanging out in Antoinette. She’s a total Brooklyn chick- has lived in BK for almost ten years now. She started the crawl to help out some of her friends who owned small Brooklyn businesses and couldn’t afford PR. It was a great way to get people to come out for hot deals on unique gems found in these vintage shops. She’s had a tremendous response since 2011, and the Vintage Crawl has been happening twice-annually ever since.After chatting with Kathryn, we stopped into Skinny Dennis, the best little Williamsburg honkey tonk, for a tall hard apple cider. This dive bar makes you feel like you just catapulted back in time- like you’re hanging with Willie Nelson and Lana Del Rey out in the desert somewhere. The Pine Barons‘ “Psych-folk-harmonious-americana-rock and roll” is such a unique sound, you have to hear it for yourself. The lead singer’s voice is deep and soothing, reminiscent of Jonny Cash. The rare 1960s Western decor and homey environment could’ve kept us for a few more ciders but we had to get going to the next shop.
Malin Landaeus wants her shop to feel like a good friend’s closet. She succeeds in her vision; the store is very homey with tons of items to sift through. Her special for the vintage crawlers was a collection silk blouses that were dyed with pastel paint. The effect was stunning. Beautiful jewelry and boots are to be found here. Also, stop in for vegan baked goods and tea most Sundays starting at 4pm, and have a chat with Malin.
Next, we stumbled into a hidden art gallery in the back of About Glamour. The pleasant surprises and cultural diversity of Williamsburg are incredible. On our way to the next shop, the sun was setting, and we enjoyed an irish guitarist on the corner of Bedford Avenue.

|October in New York is the perfect time to roam the avenues in search of inspiration. Our social media assistants, Stephanie and Erin, were exploring the Flatiron District to get some cool photos. They stumbled into the Ace Hotel Lobby, a great place to catch an afternoon latte and chat, study, or take a silly picture in the vintage photo booth.|
|We could spend hours exploring the flower and jewelry districts, just steps from our Mini Suite, Pop Loft, and Xx Suite.We never fail to find unique vintage furniture or cool knick-knacks at the antique shops on W. 25th St. We love receiving comments and feedback on our suites via our social media platforms! It helps us to continue to deliver the chic interiors and inspirational posts you love!|
|Let your old stuff do good stuff is the motto at this trendy shop. If you’re in the mood to do a little thrifting you might want to take a journey to The Vintage Thrift Shop, a unique store with all types of fun items on the Lower East Side. Open every day of the week, there’s no say to what might catch your eye, from vintage sofas, to classic type-writers, to 1960′s clothes, the shop is full of artwork and items from all walks of life. Proceeds benefit the united jewish council so while you’re picking up a little piece of New York you also can pat yourself on the back for contributing to a worthy charity.|

|During my last trip to New York, before I move to the city, I decided to spend a night in the Nolita district. The Bowery Suite is the perfect location for a fun stay in this hip area of downtown. This beautiful suite is very close to several great design shops, restaurants and bars. My day started with a massage and other relaxing at the Great Jones spa. The spa has an amazing water lounge with pools, saunas, steam rooms and also a 3-story waterfall. After that, it was time to check out some design stores in the neighborhood. First I went to Future Perfect which has really unique contemporary furniture. I am deeply in love with the knotty bubbles chandelier. Its style is both rustic and modern….just a unique lighting piece. After I stepped into Environment, another modern furniture store just around the block that has beautiful design pieces made with sustainable unfinished wood. Moreover, if you need some creative inspiration you must check out Partners & Spade. This shop opens only on weekends and features a hodgepodge of found objects, sculpture, framed artwork and design books. If you are short of gift ideas, this is the right place for you! After a whole day walking around the city finally it was time to have the perfect meal! I headed over to, a super cute Italian restaurant at the Bowery Hotel. This hot spot is always very crowded so we left our name on the wait list and we decided to go to Hecho, in Dumbo, for some authentic Mexican appetizers. We tried the Tostada de Aguachile and the Queso Fundido de Huitlacoche and they were both delicious. If you don’t want to go to Dumbo you could also wait and have a drink at the Lobby Bar in the Bowery Hotel. After a quick bite of mexican culture we went back to Gemma’s for our dinner. This is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the good cuisine with friends on the outdoor patio of the restaurant. The Fritto Misto is excellent and I definitely recommend to try it. There are lots of nightlife spots in the Nolita district so going from one place to one another just takes a short walk, which is great especially if you are wearing high heels! So after dinner we went to Wise Men, a hip and cozy bar with well-crafted specialty cocktails. My favorite is the Classic French. The next stop was Bathtub and Gin. This swanky spot serves pre-prohibition era cocktails and it is hidden behind a door of the Stone Street Coffee Company. There is a real bathtub too! Our night ended at Kings Cross, an unmarked underground speakeasy. Just look for a big clock and a steep stairway on the exterior of the building to find this basement hideaway. This magic spot has a laid back vibe and is ideal to grab a drink any day of the week. Finally it was time to head back to the Bowery Suite to get my beauty rest.|

|The great thing about NY is that we find magical places and extraordinary people in every corner. This time it’s at 23 street and Park Av. A very friendly, intimate and cozy coffee shop called MyWayCup. So if you are a coffee hunter, we definitely suggest this place for your coffee bucket list inside Manhattan. “It’s all about the hat and a smile”–one of the baristas said when we asked him what was their secret for the happy environment in this place. As soon as you enter the shop, you suddenly see E.T on top of a vinyl player and three great guys wearing hats and making amazing coffee. It’s like you enter this bizarre little place where everyone is happy and you get really good coffee with a very energetic vibe.|
|“Positivity is contagious” and these guys make sure you get the right vibe just before you get your coffee. Make sure you find this spot and get the chance to have an espresso or a latte, you will not regret it.|

|Check in! in the epicenter of the music world. The Nhow hotel is one of the first music hotels in Europe located in the heart of Berlin, where things go wild. Thinking out of the box Karim Rashid presents the Nhow that brings together both concepts of pop decor and surrealism. The hotel has also a unique art gallery and two music studios. Nhow is part of a new generation of hotels: offbeat, lively, dynamic and with an original local style that has a worldwide appeal.|
||Music finds itself at home and you will too!.||
|From the pictures the hotel might seem a little tacky but trust me, the experience is just worthwhile. It is almost like landing into another world and have the opportunity to contemplate all these unique designs. The membrane shape is present in all the corners of the hotel accompanied by pop posters of celebrities such as Johnny Depp, Mother Teresa, among others. The tables and chairs are minimal and are grey-colored. The selections of colors for the whole hotel is very interesting and very shocking at first gaze but they go along perfectly with the theme of this amazing hotel. It is definitely a unique experience you can’t miss! If you have the chance to book a night here, don’t think too much about it and just do it! Some of the guests might be very interesting as well. Because of the gallery art and the music studio that this hotel offers, you could find famous artists, your favorite rock band and other internationals celebrities…..and everyone having breakfast with you in the same room!|
||Making music visible||
|Moreover, each room is unique. The architect, Rashid, thought about every single detail before giving birth to this wonderful structure. The wall papers go along with the floor papers which work also well with the bedding and the curtains. In musical terms it all look like a pleasing harmonic song. When you arrive you have the option to choose between three color schemes: Pink, Blue, Pink/Black or Blue/Black and it all depends on the rooms’ location. Don’t waste another minute of your time! Fly to Berlin and enjoy the surreal experience of stepping inside this giant music box hotel Nhow.|
|Original, simple and delicious…meatballs! We are talking about The Meatball Shop, a wonderful spot located in the heart of Williamsburg. When you get in, the first thing that catches your gaze is the nice design of the interior, country-side, industrial like with wooden floors and tables. The space is huge and you could never tell from the outside. At the entrance there is a bar counter where you can sit and eat or have a drink. In the back of the restaurant there is a kitchen (you can actually see the chefs while they cook!) and some tables if you want to sit and have your meal while chatting with your family and friends.|
|But the best part is the unique concept and style of the menu!! You can literally create your own meal by checking with a dry erase marker among a various selection of meatballs and sides you prefer. If you’re a vegetarian, no worries, the chefs did not forget about you! You can also get the veggie meatballs and still enjoy the great ambiance of this place. They also have a shop…that’s where the name of the restaurant comes from. If you want to bring home with you a little souvenir there are t-shirts, hats or cookbooks if you get inspired and want to try a new recipe. There are three other locations in Manhattan but if you happen to be in Brooklyn, check out this one!!!|

|You can’t escape from Flea markets, there are everywhere in NYC. But the best one are those of Artists & Fleas that you can find at Williamsburg and at Chelsea Market.Wandering through Chelsea Market, stopping here and there at the shops and food places I bumped into Artists & Fleas. The perfect spot to go there when the weather isn’t very good and when you want to find some trinkets and some good souvenirs.
At the flea market inside Chelsea Market you can find everything what you ever wanted. Lots of handmade jewelry & accessories, cute bunny sweaters, special laptop sleeves, etc. There is a good variety of vendors and most of them have great prices for their items. The vintage pieces are more expensive, possibly because there are a lot of them.
You don’t want to spend money? Just go to take a look to the creative ideas and products that might interest and inspire you. However, if you do decide to buy something make sure you have cash. Most of the vendors only take cash.
|Throwback thursday for our favorite designer Li-Rong Liao.|
|We first collaborated with her a year ago and we just cant get enough of this brooklyn-based artist and her famous paper lights and pattern designs. From Taiwan to the streets of New York, Li-Rong understands the art of transforming numbers into design. From a mathematician to a brilliant designer she has developed her career playing by numbers. Not everything is random and specially not design. Li Rong told us that her passion began before she even knew it. “It all happened in my mom’s atelier, she was a seamstress, so I spent my childhood playing with fabrics and creating new patterns. So the order and creativity has always been there. It was just a matter of time for everything to come together.”|
||Folded Felt Table with LI-RONG||
|Li-Rong enchanted MySuites with the “no randomness” of things. How they appear to us as random events or design, but at a closer and detailed look they are not. Everything is calculated and everything has a process, it’s the same in design. Thats why the paperlights and the folded tables among other designs of Li-Rong are so great. Check more of Li-Rong’s designs here. And if you would like to get PaperLights or the Felt Side Table in grey by Li-Rong specially done for MySuites, you can now get it at The SHOP by MySuites.|

Flowers everywhere, this must be the Flower District where I’m staying for two days in the XX Suite. This suite is perfect located because the subway is just a few blocks away and you can even walk to the highlights of NYC, such as Madison Square Park, the Empire State Building or spend your money on Fifth avenue. So being in the Flower District was a perfect center point to get to everywhere I wanted to go.
The XX Suite was the perfect place to stay. First of all, the acceptance by concierge Philip was very good because he was very flexible even to meet me before regular check-in time. The sunny suite was big enough, I think I could invite 4 friends to stay over because the suite sleeps up to 5 people. Nice big living room, good service and a mini kitchen helped me to better my stay in NYC.
The purpose of my trip to the Big Apple was to hang out with my good friend Shawn, visited my friend Greg’s dog Molly and do some work. Of course as a blogger, I couldn’t resist a trip uptown for some designer shopping.
Nice trip and stay in NYC, even I didn’t stay a long time in the city that never sleeps. I enjoyed it!
Roz is blogger of Roz Du Jour. The purpose of her trip was to meet some friends and do some work.
||Memorial getaway|Still not too late and just perfect for this Memorial weekend. Take a break from the concrete jungle and book a magical weekend at the Ruschmeyer’s hotel in Montauk.
Bring up all those memories from summer camp and experience them all over again, but in a chic way. Ruschmeyer’s offers a warm and playful design with bold and bright colors. The luxury is not the ostentatious kind, but for those of you who enjoy a particular brand of summertime nostalgia and who are in for the party du jour, this is the place to escape. Activities are endless from yoga to surf, so make your pick and just enjoy.
||Hip summer camp|This hotel is also best described as a carefree anarchy environment where everyone feel free to act how they want to. No judgements taken; it is a fun place to relax. The rooms are full of little details that makes your day happier. The details of the design come from a unique nautical touch with Bauhaus influences; you’ll see leather butterfly chairs, old black-and-white photographs and bold colors everywhere. We prefer to call it Nauthical bohemian paradise.|
||invigorating white spaces||
|Every single corner of the Ruschmeyer’s is fresh. A beachy space that we can also call a small piece of paradise. It is the perfect space to escape.|
